Our Worcester property has always had a warm, vibrant community spirit, with tenants enjoying gardening, outdoor games, and socialising on the patio together. But when the British weather took a turn (as it so often does), they were faced with a challenge—where could everyone and everything go when the rain came down?
The answer? A shed. A big shed. A big, expensive shed.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of Lifeway’s support team—led by Manager Kerry and Team Leader Lisa—tenants raised funds through raffles, fun days, parties, scratch cards, and more. While the money raised was enough to buy the shed, they fell just short of what was needed to prepare the ground to install it.
That’s when Kerry reached out to the local community and IKE…and the community truly stepped up! A huge THANK YOU to:
- Scott from Spa Paving & Landscaping generously offered free labour and rallied support from his supplier spapaving.com.
- County Building Supplies in Droitwich, donated paving slabs and other materials countyonline.co.uk/droitwich-branch.
- Wayne at Digaway & Clearaway Recycling, provided a free skip www.digawayskiphire.co.uk.
…And IKE contributed to material and digger hire costs.
Now, thanks to this wonderful collective effort, our tenants have a fantastic new shed with two sections: one for storing garden furniture and games, and the other as a warm, dry space for the gardening club during rainy days and the colder months.
And of course, thank you to Kerry, Lisa, the entire Lifeways team, and especially our incredible tenants who made this happen.
(It’s still unclear how Izzy, our Maintenance Officer, and Nicki, our Housing Officer, ended up playing swingball—but we’ll assume it was during their lunch break😊)
